  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan on medium-low heat.
  2. Add the onion.
  3. Add the garlic.
  4. Add the chili.
  5. Cook until the onion, garlic, and chillies are softened, stirring occasionally.
  6. OPTIONAL: Add the sliced chicken breast, cook until done.
  7. Add the chopped tomatoes.
  8. Add the tomato puree.
  9. Add the salt and pepper.
  10. Add half the basil leaves, roughly torn. (or the dried basil)
  11. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. While sauce is cooking, cook the Penne Rigate. In 15 minutes, it will be cooked to "Al Dente" perfection.
  12. In a large bowl or pot, mix/toss the sauce and pasta until it's well coated. Or put the pasta on the plate and spoon the sauce over it.
