Instructions to make Fish curry:
  1. Mix grated coconut, tomato, onion, garlic, coriander seeds, red chilli powder (gives that fish curry colour) and turmeric in a mixer (add little water to ease mixing).
  2. Pour oil in a heated vessel and add onion (This is not a fodni. So no rai, jeera)
  3. Add few cups water to the mixture.
  4. Once onion is little fried, Add the diluted mixture to the vessel.
  5. Add salt and kokam (4-5 pieces)
  6. Once it starts boiling, lower the gas and add the cut fish pieces.
  7. Keep low gas and let it cook. Add coriander to taste.

It's a popular recipe in areas like Kasimedu - home to one of the city's largest fishing harbours, and doesn't. I used monkfish for my curry, but any white fish would do. Spiced and earthy, served on a bed of basmati rice for the best Indian food experience. Fillets of fish (any type, fresh or frozen) are simmered in a rich Thai curry sauce.
