- Make ready 1 medium size bottle guard (lauki)
- Get 1 cup chana daal
- Prepare 1 medium size onion (chopped in small pcs)

- Take 4-5 green chilli (chopped in small pcs)
- Get 1 medium size tomato (cut in med size)

- Prepare 1 bay leaf, 1 black big cardamom, 2 cloves
- Get Cumin seeds, heeng
- Take 1/2 tb spoon red chilli powder
- Take 1 tb spn turmeric powder
- Take 1 tb spn coriender powder
- Get 1 tb spoon sabzi masala powder
- Take Salt as per taste
- Prepare 2 tb spoon desi ghee
- Take Cooking oil
Chana dal is a delicious, comforting, simple curry dish inspired by the traditional dal found in Indian and Pakistani dishes. The taste of dal differs by region, but the inspiration for this particular dish hails from the Indian subcontinent. "Chana" is chickpeas, and "dal" is split lentils, peas, or chickpeas. Instructions to make Chana daal curry:
- Boil the chana daal and lauki in a cooker (add 1 pinch turmeric powder n 2 tb spn salt as per ur taste) for half an hour (medium flame)
- In a pan take some cooking oil. In hot oil put bay leaf, black cardamom, cloves. Add cumin seeds and heeng
- Add chopped ginger garlic. Do not fry it much. Add chopped onion and green chilli. When it becomes golden brown add 2 tb spn desi ghee and sliced tomato and all spices (powder) and salt as per ur taste and fry it till all the tomatoes become soft.
- Once masala fries well then add boiled chana daal and lauki and cook for 10 mins in med flame. In the end add chopped coriender leaves. Chana daal curry is ready.
Chana dhal or split chickpeas is one of the most popular dishes amongst Indian cooks. The dhal is cooked to al dente, then cooked further with ingredients like tomato, garlic, and spices and then finished off with a toasty tempering of cumin seeds and curry leaves. Chana Dal is usually used as lentil curry in North India and for tempering in South India.. Chana Dal takes a bit longer to cook compared to other split lentils such as Toor Dal or Moong Dal. Although they will cook just as well with a few extra minutes in the instant pot.
